By Matthew McCully – Community members in Stanstead attended a meeting on Tuesday, March 12 organized by CIBC representatives, hoping to plead with the bank to keep the local branch open with reduced hours, or at least install an ATM in town. Despite being presented with a petition that gathered 466 signatures in less than 24 hours, CIBC representatives made it clear there was no room to negotiate. “They really weren’t open to conversation except how the transition was going to work,” explained community member Barbara Heath, who attended the meeting.
