Stanstead community shocked by reports of a dog left outside to die in the cold during the holidays

Several sources have informed The Record that a dog in the Stanstead area was left outside between Christmas and New Years by its owner, who had gone out of town. When a relative stopped by at some point to check on the dog it was found lifeless in the cold, according to reports. While details of the account have been widely circulated for days on Facebook, the Société protectrice des animaux (SPA) told The Record it had not received any official complaints about the dog in question. While SPA rep Geneviève Cloutier said the organization had been made aware of the incident within the last two days, no complaints from citizens had been reported or investigation opened as of yesterday at the time of the interview.
