Stanstead conducting written consultation on bylaw change

By Gordon Lambie

Since the current ban on public gatherings prevents the holding of a traditional public consultation meeting, the town of Stanstead is inviting anyone with a comment or concern about draft bylaw 2012-URB-02-08, to submit them in writing by June 2,2020.
The proposed bylaw, which can be consulted in full on the town website (in French only), would add new usages in four zones within the territory of the Town of Stanstead. Specifically, the zoning change would allow electrical line mounting services in zone C2, trailer sales and rental services in zone C7, a local market in zone C9, and tourist residences in zone R2
The bylaw draft does not offer any clarification as to what each zone corresponds to, for those not already familiar with the zoning of the town, but a representative of the town told The Record that anyone with questions is welcome to call (819) 876-7181 during office hours to ask.
Anyone wishing to submit a comment can do so by sending an email to urbanisme@stanstead.ca with “Comments: Regulation 2012- URB-02” in the subject line; or by mail to: Mr. Jean-François Joubert Urban Planning Officer, 425 Dufferin Street Stanstead, QC, J0B 3E2.
