Strong performance from Townshippers at ­Canadian Junior Karate Championship in Edmonton

Record Staff – The delegation of 11 athletes from the Townships returned from the Canadian karate championship with five medals (two silver and three bronze). The Quebec team took first place in the medal standings with a count of 20 gold medals and a total of 60 medals, followed by British Columbia with a total of 54 medals including 12 gold. Yuri Lavoie and Justine Beauchesne-Blanchette managed to get a 2nd place (silver medal) in kata among the cadets while Liam Bisson finished 4th (bronze medal) in kata in the youth category and Jean-Nicolas Roy also 4th (bronze medal) in junior competition.
