Student Ombudsman receives 23 complaints, investigates two

The September meeting of the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) Council of Commissioners included the Student Ombudsman’s report for the 2021-22 school year.
Christian Beaudry, who has served the board’s student ombudsman for the past decade, received a total of 23 complaints last year.
In 17 cases, the complainants had not exhausted the remedies provided in the procedure for the examination of complaints, so they were referred back the internal complaint procedure.
Of the remaining six complaints, two were resolved with the assistance of the principal in the schools concerned. One was related to a human resources issue, which falls outside the jurisdiction of the ombudsman, so the complaint was not admissible, and another was deemed premature, and therefore not admissible.
