Students from the Santé Globale program at l’Escale high school in Val-des-Sources are likely to have sore legs next week, as they pedal for 24 hours straight to raise money for Leucan Estrie.

Hosting the event for the second consecutive year, the Leucan pedal-a-thon will take place in the form of a telethon, with live performances on May 4 and 5.

The telethon portion of the event will be organized with the help of the students of the cinema concentration and their teacher, Yanick Gendron.

Last year, the students raised over $17,000 to commemorate a student from l’Escale who passed away due to cancer.

“This year, we want to do it again to support this cause because I think everyone knows someone who has had cancer or who has unfortunately passed away from cancer. Our thoughts are with the people who receive a diagnosis of cancer,” explained Éloïse Gauthier, Secondary 3 student in the Santé Globale program.
