By Matthew McCully – To celebrate its 35th anniversary, the Sutton Volunteer Centre (CAB) has put together a book, RETROLABO du CAB, featuring a series of ‘then and now’ portraits of volunteers, accompanied by profiles and stories of the volunteers, compiled by Grade 5 and 6 students from Sutton Elementary School. “It’s a project that’s very local,” explained CAB Director Janna Hubacek. The project was initiated by local artists Stéphane Lemardelé and Isabelle Grenier, who, according to Hubacek, have participated in several socially involved initiatives in the Sutton area. “They were inspired by a book they found in England,” Hubacek said, which involved the re-staging of photos years, sometimes decades after they were taken.
