House evaluations rising, and property taxes dropping was a key message delivered by Town of Brome Lake Mayor Richard Burcombe and his team when the 2016 budget was presented and adopted at a special meeting on December 14 at the TBL Community Centre. It is the first budget within the new triennial roll for 2016-17-18 and is based on total taxable housing values amounting to $1,349,491,000, an average 7.4 per cent jump from the previous years and an overall increase of 7.1 per cent when taking into consideration all types of taxable properties.
