By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – For the first time, the town of Cowansville will welcome a Coop d’initiation à l’entrepreneuriat collectif (CIEC) over the summer of 2019. The program, which consists of 15 teenagers aged 12 to 17 and two coordinators, will offer a unique work experience to youth in the community. They will have the opportunity to develop their own service enterprise, to learn the innerworkings of management (finance, marketing, human resources, customer service, and more), and to develop their entrepreneurial skills and qualities. The youth coop will be named “J’entreprends mon été, à Cowansville.” While developing and operating their coop, the teens will have to make strategic choices, divide tasks and contracts, offer services to the community, ensure quality customer service and assess their performance.
