The Cutting Edge: a look into TerryLynn Bachand’s hairdressing career

By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – TerryLynn Bachand isn’t your regular business owner. She’s a vibrant young adult, full of tattoos and full of life. Owner of Salon ThérapieBeauté in Lennoxville since August 2016, the 22-year-old is only starting her hairdressing journey. “I just woke up one day and realized that I wanted to have my own salon. I talked to my parents about it, but it seemed a bit too complicated for my 20-year-old mind,” Bachand shared in an interview yesterday with the Record. She recalled giving up on that dream for a few months, until she drove by the vacant space at 135, Queen Street. “I visited it with my dad and it just felt like it was a sign. It was the perfect space for a salon.”
The five-year lease, Bachand shared, was intimidating. It seemed like a significant leap of faith for someone just starting out. “I remember asking my mom, ‘What if it doesn’t work out?’ She looked at me and said, ‘Terry, when the lease is over, you’ll be 25. You’ll still have your whole life ahead of you,’” the salon owner explained, adding that she always keeps her mother’s advice in mind. See full story in the Wednesday, Jan. 16 edition of The Record.
