The Brome County Historical Society held its first ever Winter Ball at the community center in Knowlton on Saturday, Dec. 21. The event, organized as a fundraiser for the BCHS, raised close to $15,000 for the 122-year-old institution. “It was the first winter ball ever for the Brome County Historical Society,” explained Adèle Hébert, Vice-President of BCHS and head of the Winter Ball organizing committee. The event gave attendees the chance to dress to the nines all while sipping on martini cocktails and dancing the night away. The idea to hold a winter ball as a fundraiser for BCHS stems back to a similar event held in the village years ago called the ‘Snow Ball.’ While many people had doubts about the idea, Hébert followed her gut. “When I started with this idea, people were like no don’t do it! It’s impossible! It was hard to find help but I persevered because I knew it could be fun. ” See full story in the Monday, Dec. 30 edition of The Record.
