The Record turns 122 on Saturday

By Matthew McCully – Thanks to our loyal readers, subscribers and advertisers, The Record is proud to celebrate 122 years as the daily voice of English-speaking Townshippers. This photo was taken by Record photographer Gordon Riff on Oct.16, 1937 and features the newsies who used to deliver the paper by bicycle. During that time, The Record’s office was situated on Wellington Street. According to Carl Riff, the photographer’s son, the reflection in the window of the building shows a hotel that was across the street facing the office. Riff said that the hotel burned down the day after the photo was taken. Published in the Friday, Feb. 8 edition of The Record.
