The story of the 1945 plane crash in Bury

By Taylor McClure, Special to The Record – In January, 2017 Bury history buff Joel Barter contacted The Record looking for information about a plane crash that happened some time in 1945 in Bury. Based on scraps of information from a variety of sources, Barter compiled everything he could about the incident, but couldn’t manage to pin down a date. Thanks to The Record’s newly digitized archives, Barter’s account of events offered enough leads to search the database and find the article published about the crash in 1945. The crash took place on Feb 1, 1945. An article was published in The Record the following day. See full story in the Wednesday, July 10 edition of The Record.
