Things to do over the March break

By Gordon Lambie

With next week being March break for students across the province of Quebec, several local municipalities and organizations have been putting together lists of different special activities that are available for families to take advantage of.

In Magog:
The Memphrémagog Library has a special activity each day over the course of the week. On Tuesday there will be a drop-in jigsaw puzzle competition in the afternoon. On Wednesday children ten and up are invited to a video game competition (registration required in advance). On Thursday the Club des Débrouillards is coming to demystify scientific concepts with magic, although that activity has a cap of 20 participants. On Friday a family movie afternoon will screen “Aladdin” and on Saturday the library will host a stop-motion animation workshop, both of which require advance registration. More information on the events planned is available by calling 819 843-1330, poste 899 or by visiting ville.magog.qc.ca/bibliotheque.
The Centre d’arts visuels de Magog also has several ongoing exhibitions either through the Musée international d’art naïf de Magog or Art’M that can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday afternoons.
The Merry House is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and from March 4 to March 6 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. the history centre will be hosting family-friendly workshops on archeology. The event welcomes participants five and up but requires a reservation by calling 819 201-0727. See full story in the Feb. 28 edition of The Townships Outlet.
