By Matthew McCully – “I’m comfortable with my position,” explained Vicki-May Hamm, about her decision to move on to new challenges at the end of her term as mayor of Magog. She first took office in November, 2009. “I’ve achieved what was on my list,” she said, adding that she believes politicians shouldn’t stay in a position for too long. “It’s much easier and more exciting,” Hamm said, regarding her final term. “You’re achieving.” When first elected, Hamm said there was a big learning curve, and much of her time was spent finishing projects initiated by the previous council. These days, she is putting the finishing touches on plans, all of which were initiated by Hamm and her team. “There are a lot of interesting projects,” she said. Most notably is the renovation of Main Street. “If we are on budget, we could start in April,” Hamm commented. See full story in the Tuesday, Feb. 12 edition of The Record.
