Over the past decade, Lyme disease cases have increased significantly in the province, rising from 125 reported cases in 2014, according to the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ), to 709 reported cases in 2021.
The INSPQ notes on their website that there was a drop off, only 274 cases, in 2020, compared to 500 cases in 2019. However, they have attributed that sharp decrease in Lyme disease cases to the pandemic, as folks were not travelling much due to the Canadian border closure.
