Total number of deaths due to Covid-19 rises to 11,400

The Province of Quebec reported 506 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total number of people infected to 413,306 with 5,039 active cases.
There were three new deaths reported for a total of 11,400 since the start of the pandemic.
The province had a total of 294 hospitalizations on Wednesday, an increase of three compared to the previous day. There were 90 people within that total who were in intensive care, the same number as the previous day. There were 582 outbreaks being monitored across the province,
In the Eastern Townships the number of active cases decreased to 250. Of that total 73 were in Sherbrooke, 62 were in the Haute Yamaska, and 51 were in the troubled Des Sources region.
The Townships had 10 people in hospital, two of whom were in intensive care. There were 27 schools in the region on the list of schools with at least one Covid case in the last 14 days, including Alexander Galt Regional High School, the Lennoxville Vocational Training Centre, Princess Elizabeth Elementary School, and Richmond Regional High School.
Vaccination rates across the province have now reached 89.6 per cent of those eligible to receive a shot when it comes to a first dose, and 86 per cent for adequate vaccination.
