By Emilie Hackett, Special to The Record – The local community is mourning the loss of 22-year-old Vincent Robichaud, who passed away in a tragic plane crash on Sunday in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. The Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley native and Champlain College alumnus was aboard a small two-seater Pitts Special aircraft, flown by his 29-year-old cousin Sebastien, when it crashed moments after take-off. Robichaud was pronounced dead at the hospital while the pilot sustained severe injuries. Mechanical failure is thought be the cause of the tragic accident. Robichaud and his family were aviation fanatics and had been practicing professionally for years. His father was an Air Canada pilot for over 20 years, while his cousin Sebastien worked as on operator for Nolinor and was a flight instructor.
