Townshippers’ pleased with consultation report but doubtful it will be taken seriously

Last week the Secrétariat aux relations avec les Québécois d’expression anglaise, the provincial administrative office established to take into account the concerns of English speaking communities across Quebec, shared its report on a series of public consultations that took place in the fall of 2019. Compiled by independent researcher Frances Ravensbergen, the report highlights five key areas where organizations working with English-speaking communities in the province identified significant issues including access to government services, access to government funding, recognition within Quebec society, transparency of funding transfers, and specific challenges in the health and social services, education, employment, arts & culture and heritage sectors, among others.
