Townships blanketed in first major snowfall of the season

After a few notable snowfalls in November and a few centimeters here and there since, residents across the Eastern Townships woke up to between 10-15cm of snow Thursday morning, and the snow was still coming down. Zhara Belendez, a resident of Lennoxville, brought her two kids to Lennoxville Elementary that afternoon to enjoy some sledding since school was cancelled by the Eastern Townships School Board.

“We started off in the morning at home,” explained Belendez, but since they don’t have a suitable hill for sledding in their back yard, she and the kids came to the LES playground. Francophone students in Sherbrooke missed out on a snow day, with schools run by the Centre de services scolaire de la Région-de-Sherbrooke staying open on the 26th.
