By Taylor McClure, Special to the Record – The Record recently came across both of these unidentified photographs in its archives. After more extensive research, it was discovered that this was a protest that took place outside of the Immaculate Conception Church in Sherbrooke at the end of June in 1994. The protest involved supporting the ordinance of women in the Roman Catholic Church. Around the same time, a 150-page Vatican document, prepared for a general assembly of the church’s Synod of Bishops, was published that pointed to an urgency for women to have a more significant role in the church.
