Transport ministry to invest $244 million in Townships roads

Transport Minister François Bonnardel announced $244 million in funding for work on roads in the Eastern Townships through 2023 on Tuesday morning. After similar biennial announcements in recent years have been dominated by the progression of the highway 410 extension, the completion of that project last December meant that this year’s list of works featured more of a back-to the basics, maintenance-oriented theme.
“Asset maintenance is important to me,” Bonnardel said, arguing that if Quebec’s roads are in bad shape, it is as a result of decades of neglect that can only be undone through consistent maintenance.
