Although the forecast for the coming days is mainly grey and rainy, Quebec’s Ministry of Transport (MTQ) is taking a leaf out of the Scouting handbook and encouraging everyone to be prepared. “If ever that rain turns to snow, our trucks are ready,” said Nomba Danielle, spokesperson for the Estrie office of the MTQ, speaking to reporters outside the ministry’s garage and depot on Georges-Vallières Street in Sherbrooke. According to Danielle, the local team has been at work preparing their trucks and equipment since September. “Winter has no fixed start date,” the spokesperson said, adding the MTQ’s position that it is never too early for drivers to start preparing for winter driving.
