The Alexander Galt boys hockey team took two out of three opening round playoff series this past week as the U15 and U18 squads advanced to the RSEQ second round while the U14s were eliminated.

The U15, the regular season champions had little trouble with their counterparts from Triolet as they swept the two-game series with their cross-town rivals, 4-2 and 5-1.

The U18 team blanked Triolet 3-0 in their opening match and then battled to a 2-2 in the second game, ensuing that they would move on to the next round of their playoffs.

The U14 did not fare as well as they were soundly defeated by the first place La Samara.

In the U15 opening game against Triolet Jack Brown and Parker Turgeon provided the offense while goalie Jacob Courtemanche picked up the win with a 13-save performance. Brown tallied two goals and added a pair of assists while Turgeon collected two goals and an assist.

“We got off to a great start, probably our best start of the season,” Galt head coach Robbie Fisk said. “But half way through the game we seemed content with our effort and stopped skating and let them back in the game. Their goalie played well but Jack Brown and Parker Turgeon were buzzing every shift and made it difficult on their defense.”
