Two women elected to serve on town councils

While the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) strives to promote increased numbers of women participating in municipal politics and governance, in many cases they continue to fall short of the United Nations guideline of 30 per cent representation in government. Women continue to be underrepresented in municipal governments. That’s why the two by-elections late last autumn in West Bolton and Austin that showed voter trust in Lindsay Tuer and Isabelle Couture are significant.
