Bishop’s University (BU) was recognized as a bike-friendly campus by Vélo Québec, a non-governmental non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cyclists and promoting biking as an alternative mode of transportation from motor vehicles. Vélo Québec awarded its Bronze-level Vélosympathique certification to the Bishop’s campus, based on the University’s efforts to encourage cycling in its community and on its campus.
Jean-François Rheault, President and CEO of Vélo Québec, noted in a press release that “Bishop’s University is remarkably dynamic; its initiatives toward cycling education and
promotion are second to none on larger campuses.” He praised the University’s commitment to the local community, stating that Bishop’s “work[s] closely with all [community] members, and adopt[s]…solutions that complement public transportation.”
