Wales Home reopens Norton wing in ongoing reinvention process

By Gordon Lambie

The Wales Home inaugurated its newly expanded Norton long term care (CHSLD) wing on Tuesday as a part of its annual open house day. Inviting the public and supporters of the home in the day before residents move back into the reinvented CHSLD space, Executive Director Brendalee Piironen and members of the Wales Home board took the opportunity to do a little “show and tell” of the expansion as well as other projects planned for the future. “Today is an important day,” Piironen said. “We have lots to be proud of.” More than just offering more room, the executive director took guests through a first floor of the wing that has been updated and reimagined to offer residents with Alzheimer’s and Dementia a better quality of care. “This has been a very ambitious project requiring many hours of work by both Wales Home personnel and board members,” said Wales Home Board President Glenn Brock.
