When her 89-year-old mother received her first dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, Wendy Patrick felt a weight lifted from her shoulders. It was one she had carried with her ever since a medical team entered Résidence Wales Home’s CHSLD branch after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
“I had a hard time leaving that home, not knowing when I would see my mom again,” said Patrick. “That was the most difficult [part].”
Patrick visits her mother every Monday and Friday at around 1 p.m. For an hour, the pair sit together, catch up on the events happening in their lives and Patrick answers all of her mother’s questions about the outside world and her family.
