Wellington to close for demolitions

Record Staff

Drivers travelling through downtown Sherbrooke take note: Wellington Street South will be closed to through traffic beginning on Monday, February 10, and continuing through the 20th to allow for the demolition of the old Hotel Wellington and Studio Sex buildings. Sidewalks will remain open and parts of the street will be accessible to local drivers, but the better part of the section between King Street and Sanborn will be closed completely for at least ten days. When the street reopens, it will be in the usual summertime configuration with traffic allowed only in the southbound direction. The demolition will make way for the Espace Centro development, a large-scale project including the construction of a new parking garage and office towers meant to serve as the cornerstone of the Well Sud redevelopment initiative.
