What’s in a name? My Take by Gordon Lambie

Wherefore art thou Asbestos?
After years of being scorned for sharing a name with a known carcinogen, the Asbestos town council finally got to the point of a public vote where almost half of the people eligible cast their ballots. Naturally, though, there are some people who disagree not just with the choice, but with the idea of changing the name at all.
Much as the rest of the world can say “O! be some other name,” and the town would be the same from one day to the next, there is also more to a name than just the word used for a place. Said differently: would Asbestos, by any other name, still smell as sweet?
If part of your identity is standing behind a name that other people think is stupid, is it really so surprising that losing that name could be hard?
