Women’s rights group reaching out to English speakers

By Gordon Lambie

Concertaction Femmes Estrie, the local roundtable group focused on upholding and defending the rights of women, is on the lookout for local English speaking representatives. “We realized that there is a big language barrier, and we want to hear what English-speaking women have to say,” said Sarah Beaudoin, who is coordinating the group’s new subcommittee for English-speaking communities.
Concertaction Femmes Estrie is a regional chapter of the international Women’s March movement, which has been working to rally feminist groups around the world since 1995. According to Beaudoin, the local group has been at work in the area since the year 2000, but primarily in French until just recently. See full story in the Thursday, Oct. 31 edition of The Record.
