Since 2019, the federal government has been funding a program called Culture for Seniors. More recently, the provincial government, through a program called Québec ami des ainés (CADA), has been contributing by funding specific aspects of the program.
Locally, in the MRCs of Des Sources and Val-St-François, the project co-ordinator is Mariane Ménard.
“In addition to the government funding,” she says, “we work closely with several other organizations including Le P’tit Bonheur de Saint-Camille, Townshippers’ Association, the volunteer centres of different towns, and the CIUSSS (Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux).”
“Our mission,” she continues, “is to promote social participation through cultural activities. We want to encourage people who are aging to remain socially active, because social and cultural activities have a significant, positive effect on general health and well-being.
