Work begins on new Grandes-Fourches bridge

A ground-breaking ceremony for the new Grandes-Fourches Bridge took place Thursday morning on Abénaquis Street. The new bridge is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022, with some additional infrastructure work continuing into 2023, including landscaping for six football fields worth of land and shoreline being redesigned as a park for public use.
“This is a great day for Sherbrooke,” Mayor Steve Lussier said at the press conference. “The closure of the Grandes-Fourches Bridge last spring had repercussions on traffic, since the bridge was used by some 10,000 users every day.”
