Stanstead’s own Donald Taylor is on course to celebrate his 100th birthday this coming Jan. 4, 2021.
Born in Ayer’s Cliff, the 99-year-old has had a number of titles throughout his life. “I lived in Bedford and got into the service and went out west for about forty years, from 1939 to 1987,” said Taylor. “While I was out on the west coast, I was in the air force for ten years and when I took my discharge, I worked as a fire captain for the city fire department and did that for another ten.”
After his time as a firefighter, Taylor went on to work for the British Columbia hydro and power and worked as a lineman, and an electrician over the next twelve years, and a safety officer for the following 26. Upon returning to the Townships, Taylor continued working in security and became involved with the volunteer firefighter program in the area.
