Quebec premier Francois Legault said Thursday that he is in discussions with the Ontario government, and he is confident that within the next few days travel between the two provinces will be permitted.
As for the border between Canada and the U.S. Legault offered no timeline, saying talks with the federal government are ongoing.
Quebec reported 189 new cases of COVID-19 in the last day, bringing the total number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic to 372,476. There are currently 2,206 active cases in the province. Two new deaths were reported, for a total of 11,166. Hospitalizations decreased by six for a total of 251, and 64 patients are in intensive care, an increase of four from the day before.
Ten new cases were reported in Estrie bringing the local total of active cases to 109.
No deaths were reported locally in the last day.
