Asked what Quebec Solidaire’s stance is on the concerns of the province’s English-speaking communities in the lead up to the Bill 96 hearings, Gabriel Nadeau Dubois put his emphasis on the importance of protecting the French language.
“I think there is a strong consensus in Quebec that French has to be protected, even in the anglophone community,” he said, adding that younger English speakers in particular, are not “trapped in the polarized conflicts of the past,” and want to “build an inclusive Quebec where French is protected.”
“We are able to have that debate without excluding anyone,” He added.
Christine Labrie, the MNA for Sherbrooke and new Parliamentary Leader for the party, echoed Nadeau Dubois’ sentiments on protecting the French Language but added that she hears and understands the concerns, particularly as they apply to access to services in English.
