More people in hospital across Quebec, but fewer in the Townships

Despite signs of improvement in Monday’s report, the number of people in hospital with COVID-19 in Tuesday’s update jumped back up by 64, to 2,409. 976 of those people were in hospital because of their Covid diagnosis.

The number of people with the virus in intensive care increased by four, to 90, 60 of whom were there directly because of Covid.

There were 32 new Covid-related deaths recorded across Quebec on Tuesday, bringing the provincial total to 14,906 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, the number of health care workers absent for reasons linked to the virus increased to 9,416.

In the Eastern Townships the overall number of hospitalizations decreased by three to 159, with four in intensive care. The region also reported two new deaths, for a total of 582 since the start of the pandemic.

The province continues to offer COVID-19 vaccination, although there has been little overall change vaccination levels over the course of the year so far. According to the most recent update, a cumulative total of 19,684,939 vaccine doses have been received by Quebecers so far. 28,159 doses were administered on Monday, mainly to people eligible to receive a second booster shot.
