Country Connection
He is friendly, talented, humble and kind. Well, that’s what comes across during my interview with musician/singer Phil Lauzon who was born in the small village of Audet near Lac Megantic.
His father played guitar, his grandmother and his sister play accordion. For his family, music is very important so the first thing that attracted Lauzon was singing.
“I recalled being seven and singing in a talent show while my father played guitar. I loved Kevin Parent, so I chose to sing one of his songs. This is when I realized that singing was important to me,” stressed the artist.
His mother and sisters took country line dancing lessons so they often practice their dances at the house. Exposed to the musical genre, Lauzon started liking country music. He found country singers he could identify with and songs that appealed to him.
“My mother bought me my first guitar and I took lessons when I was 12. I finally let go of the lessons and honed my skills by myself. Of course, there was also music classes at Polyvalente de Montignac where I studied,” said Lauzon.
He had the chance to play for many shows and events presented at school. According to him the way he felt on stage confirmed his desire to be an entertainer.
