English complaints support services return in the Townships

In 2017, the Centre d’assistance et d’accompagnement aux plaintes (CAAP) de l’Estrie, the complaints support and accompaniment center for the healthcare system within the Eastern Townships, hired Angela Moore for a pilot project aimed at helping to reach the local English speaking community. In the summer of 2018 the funding for that initial project ran out and Moore’s job disappeared for a while. “We’re a non-profit and we operate on government funding,” she said, explaining that programs and positions like hers are vulnerable to changes in grants and funding levels. Now back on the job on a contract that is set to last a minimum of two and a half years, Moore said she is anxious to remind the local English population of their healthcare rights and how the CAAP is available to help.
