With emergency rooms spilling over capacity throughout hospitals in the Eastern Townships, the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS is once again reminding residents to avoid visits to the emergency room, unless they are experiencing an urgent health problem.
“I would like to remind you that if your health problem is not urgent, to avoid emergencies. It is a difficult time right now, we need the cooperation and patience of the population. Patience is really needed because waiting times are high,” said Dr. Marie-Maud Couture in a statement.
Couture is the head of the emergency medicine department with the local health authority. According to the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS, the situation has been difficult. It is similar to the situation during the holiday season last year, a communications person wrote to The Record.
