Mental Health Estrie has begun preparing to support the homeless community of the region by accepting donations of winter clothing.
Each year, members of the homeless community are left to brave the Canadian winter, often without proper clothing. This leads to a number of people left in the cold with little to no way out. As a way to become involved and do their part, Mental Health Estrie hosts an annual winter campaign accepting donations from the public that go to homeless shelters in the area.
This year, the campaign will fun from November 2020 to March 2021 and will be accepting donations of new clothing only. Hats, underwear, gloves, socks, scarves, (hence the name HUGS) and any other warm clothing items will be accepted.
According to Mental Health Estrie, the greatest need is for men’s clothing, and the homeless shelters are emphasizing a particular need for new warm socks and gloves this year. There have already been a number of donations made, as the November chill is just starting to set in.
Donations can be dropped at the new Mental Health Estrie address; 3355 College Street, in the borough of Lennoxville.
