By Gordon Lambie

The National Bank will be spending $4.7 million to open a new call centre in Sherbrooke as of the summer of 2020 according to an announcement made by Laurent Blanchard, the bank’s Senior Vice-President of sales and services for remote channels, on Tuesday. The new centre, which will be located in the Cité du Parc development at the corner of Jacques-Cartier and King Streets, promises to create an additional 200 jobs in the region. Blanchard explained that the company has been looking for some time to establish a new customer service centre somewhere in the country. “It is here, in Sherbrooke, that we’ve decided to launch the great project that we are announcing today,” the vice-president said, adding that the centre will close to double the number of employees the bank currently has in the region. “We offer our workers a stimulating workplace and an excellent career path,” Blanchard continued, underlining the fact that the company is looking for employees who are, “passionate about customer service.” See full story in the Wednesday, Dec. 18 edition of The Record.
