Loblaw Companies Limited confirmed on Oct. 20 that the Provigo store in Lennoxville will undergo a significant transformation, transitioning to a Maxi store.

According to a statement provided by Loblaws, the decision followed an in-depth analysis of the company’s retail network. It was identified that the needs and expectations of the Lennoxville clientele align more closely with what Maxi offers. Notably, the transition comes with the introduction of Maxi’s innovative 3.0 concept, which prioritizes affordability, freshness, and variety, the statement read. Shoppers can expect an expanded range of local products, natural care items, and benefits from the Imbattable and PC Optimum programs.

According to Loblaw’s Public Relations team, “Maxi promises a simplified and friendly shopping experience in a contemporary Maxi-themed environment.”

The move emphasizes job security, ensuring all current Provigo employees who wish to stay onboard will retain their positions. Additionally, the transition to Maxi will see the addition of new job openings as the store prepares for its rebranding.

Though the exact date for the official reopening as Maxi is yet to be set, renovation work is slated to begin early in 2024. The makeover, which will span several weeks, will be executed in a manner allowing the store to remain open and serve its customers throughout the refurbishment process.

The Record attempted to reach Robert Lafond, the owner of the Provigo in Lennoxville on Friday, but he was out for the day and unavailable for comment.
