Provincial ICU numbers drop below 20

Record Staff
As of last Friday’s update from public health, there were 1,001 people with COVID-19 in hospitals across Quebec. That was a decrease of five from the number reported on Thursday. Only 19 of those people were in intensive care units, a decrease of four compared to the previous day. Based on information provided by the province’s ministry of health and social services, about 34 per cent of the overall total were people admitted to hospital because of the virus, whereas about 58 percent (or 11) of the 19 in ICU were in the same situation.
There were only two new Covid-related deaths reported in Friday’s update, but the lack of data available on Thursday meant that the total number of deaths recorded since the start of the pandemic increased by 14, to reach 15,481 since the start of the pandemic.
