This year’s Multiple Sclerosis Walk, organized by the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, will be held on May 30 in Sherbrooke, and Fernand Courchesne aims to raise over $3,000 in less than two months.
The health and social services worker at the CLSCL in Magog set up a personal challenge for the walk. He plans to run and walk for up to 15 hours on an 11.5-kilometre loop around Lac des Nations and the Magog River.
Courchesne wants to cover roughly 80 to 92 kilometres, which is the equivalent of about 7 to 8 laps, during the day. It is like running two marathons in one day, according to a press release, and he will be doing it while pushing people in an adapted chair.
