Stanstead soliciting projects for 10 Phelps Street

In an effort to unburden the municipality from upkeep costs and ensure the preservation of the heritage building, Stanstead is accepting offers for the purchase of 10 Phelps Street on the condition the offer includes a project outline and business plan for the building.
“We’re open to everything,” Stanstead Mayor Philippe Dutil said, as long as the buyer can demonstrate their intention to keep the building in good repair and present a project makes sense for the community.
According to Dutil, aside from one section of the building being rented out to Canada Post, the bulk of the space is sitting empty.
“Upstairs is all small offices. If it were a bigger room, it would be interesting to do something,” the mayor said, like a community hall.
