Married on Sept. 5, 1959, Ronald and Cynthia Drew are currently enjoying 62 years of marriage.

Both born and raised on family farms, the young couple first met at a farmer’s social gathering at Ives’ Hill Community Hall. From there, they got to know each other, fell in love and married at the St. James The Less Church in Compton.

When asked the secret to a long, happy marriage, flowers or chocolate on Valentine’s Day didn’t come up. The couple credits their longevity to five “pillars.” The five important bases being their faith in God, support for each other, respect for one another, their passion for volunteering and working with children, and their love for their family.

With their two children, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, family is undoubtably important for the Drews.
