As folks begin to head to their local mechanics to switch out their summer tires for winter tires before the Dec. 1 deadline, garage owners noticed appointments were being booked earlier than usual this year.
According to Chartier Automobiles co-owner Dan Chartier, he has been hard at work changing his clients’ tires for a month now. Normally the tire change season ramps up around this time in mid-October. Chartier has a feeling motorists were nervous about material shortages again.
“People were shopping a little earlier. I think they were afraid of quantities and stuff like that. But actually the inventory is pretty good. I don’t know if it’s from the media that they get it in their heads that everything would be scarce again,” he told The Record in a phone interview.
