World War II veteran and Normandy campaign survivor passes away at 97

Second World War veteran Roger Morin, from Sherbrooke, passed away on March 17 at the age of 97. Morin was the last veteran living in Sherbrooke to have participated in the Normandy campaign that led to the liberation of France and the eventual end of the Second World War. In April of last year, Morin was named a knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour, the highest honour bestowed by the Republic of France. The presentation took place in the company of his wife of 75 years, Rita Brault Morin, one of his great and great-great granddaughters.
